The story of Giacomo

For 65 years, Giacomo Milano has been a culinary parlor, an authentic lifestyle of mutual exchange, warmth and kindness. It all began thanks to Giacomo Bulleri. His restlessness mixed with ingenuity was, in fact, to be the driving force behind everything: a way of doing things that has become standard in Milanese catering and fine dining.

Country life and simple but imaginative cuisine
Born in 1925 in Collodi, Tuscany, Giacomo Bulleri spent his childhood immersed in the traditions and values of a rural reality, where life was marked by the slow rhythms of nature and by its fruits.
The move to Milan and the first Trattoria
At a very young age, Giacomo moved to Turin, in northern Italy, where he began to approach the trade of being a cook. The profession won him over and so he decided to move to Milan where, in 1958, he opened the Trattoria da Giacomo in Via Donizetti.
Giacomo Ristorante moves to the historic premises in Via Sottocorno
1989 is the year of the big change: the restaurant moves to Via Pasquale Sottocorno 6. A moment that also marks the beginning of the collaboration between Giacomo and the architect Renzo Mongiardino, bringing aesthetics to travel in parallel with the quality of the fresh produce, the offer and the restaurant service, becoming an identity aspect of Giacomo Milano.
New openings and the crowning of a dream
Visionary and astute observer, Giacomo manages to anticipate times and needs, choosing to diversify his premises. In 2008 Giacomo Bistrot and Giacomo Pasticceria were opened, in 2010 it was the turn of Da Giacomo Arengario. Finally, in 2011, Giacomo Caffè Letterario and Giacomo Tabaccheria opened.
Giacomo Bulleri receives the Ambrogino d'Oro
In 2015, Giacomo was awarded the Ambrogio d'Oro, an annual recognition given by the City of Milan to its most deserving citizens, in this case for having taught more than a thousand employees, in 60 years of work, the principles that bring to the top those who started from the bottom. He dedicates the award to his wife Miranda.
Giacomo expands his field of action outside and inside Milan
In 2017 he opened Giacomo Rosticceria, a neighbourhood shop with a convivial atmosphere and genuine offerings, followed in 2018 by the first restaurant outside Milan, Da Giacomo Pietrasanta, marking Giacomo Bulleri's return to his native Tuscany just a few months before his death in September 2019. In the western part of Milan, in Via Previati, Giacomo Gastronomia opens in 2020.
The big entrance in the Hotellerie
In 2021 Giacomo makes his debut in the world of Hotellerie with the opening of Da Giacomo al Lago inside the Grand Hoel Tremezzo. In 2022, the Group returns to Tuscany with the Da Giacomo al Salviatino project, taking care of part of the food offer at the Hotel Il Salviatino in Fiesole.
The identity of our places

The design of our restaurants has a common denominator, the taste for decoration, which comes from the distinctive style of the architect Renzo Mongiardino. However, the uniqueness lies precisely in the diversity. There is never a place identical to another, because we try to respect its soul, enhancing it.

Taking care of our guests

Nourishment is not just food but cordiality, kindness, value of the soul. For this we create actions and attentions that make our guests feel at the center of it all.

Atmosphere and conviviality

A warm atmosphere that invites you to enter, to make yourself at ease enjoy a moment of conviviality. Our restaurants are and always will be an authentic living room where you can meet, create and share.

The pleasure of excellence

Traditional Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist. Excellent and seasonal raw material, interpreted with care and attention. Authentic and recognizable flavours, which arise from spontaneous and genuine gestures.
